History of congkak in Asian

Congkak is believed to origination from word ‘congak’ in old Malays words which mean calculate. This is because this game demands the player to be able to ‘count’ and someone who is good in mathematic will get a few profit in this game.

It is said that this game passed since the Malacca Kingdom in which it has spread through several neighborhood in south east asia region. This is because this kingdom happen to be the main city for business in the period of their prime time.

There is no evidence how it spread to Asian

In early days it is thought that this game is for the king family and the palace occupier, even so later on it spread to the people around the kingdom.

If we checkout the Congkak which is the wood carve, we may see that it is similar to a boat. It is said that this game was pioneer by a fisherman. Based on the legend, this fisherman unable to go to the sea during raining month & he loss his income during this time. To prevent him from become very bored, he have create this game which is similar to his boat.
