Malaysia Gasing competition
Usually there is two type of gasing competition. The first type are spinning competition and the second contest is fighting contest. These two type of competition might require different necessity & skill from the player. According to Sheppard on the book Taman Indera, top which could be use for contest will measuring 23 centimetres around diameters. We will go in further depth in the area of this competition down the road.
Spinning contest
When judging spinning contest, the beginning
standard takes into account is constituted of the absolutely balanced top which is able
to continue spinning for long period of time. The top which will spin in longer time
might be announced as winner. It is normal for the good and quality top to
spin for around two hours without showing whatsoever signal of shake or irregular
vibration.
In spinning contest, there is constituted of two player in a team. One is comprised of the spinner and the extra one is comprised of scooper. Every player should be proficient for the team to win. The spinner shall be the one that do the spinning. He should have highly solid leg, pelvic & arm muscles. This is because the thrower shall utilize his all body in spinning the top.
The scooper, in the other hand will require another set of attainment. He have to have super efficient reflexes & be capable to seizure the rapidly spinning top so that the top can stay to spin. This skill is very important as he must not distrup the top When he take up it to put into the stand.
Once the top is positioned on top of their special stand, it will remain to spin & it also must remain absolutely upright.
Fighting competition
In top fighting contest, the
player in every team may be more than the spinning contest. The player in
both team might range from three to five persons. Once this contest is
in some way need particular skill and will be dangerous, simply adult will have on
this type of contest.
In this severity and nature of contest, there is comprised of two team involve. The competition commence with the beginning team spin their top, thus followed by the second team- which they got to hit one of the first team’s top.
However, in doing this, hitting other than one top is in admissible.
Since striking the top could caused damage to the tops, there came certain regulation to follow. The rule will be that the striker’s top (the second team’s top) must continue to spin after it hit the first top (their opponent’s top). The mark could be given to the team that shall hit the top when his top continue to spin. This will take turn and the team that can get the most point of the day will be the winner for the first ‘round’. This type of contest can drag up to few days, which I believed will be based on the organizer or based to the local rule.
