Nusantara Gasing competition
Usually there is comprised of two type of gasing competition. The first type is spinning contest & the second competition is fighting competition. These two type of contest shall use different requirement & accomplishment coming from the player. According to Sheppard on the book Taman Indera, top which is use for competition shall measure 23 centimeters on diameters. I personally will go in further depth around this competition afterwards.
Spinning competition
When judging spinning competition, the first
measure involves into account is comprised of the perfectly balanced top which are capable
to continue spinning for long time. The top which could spin in longer time
may be announced as winner. It is normal for the good and quality top to
spin for more or less two hours without display any mark of shake or irregular
vibration.
In spinning competition, there is two player in a team. One are the spinner & the extra one will be scooper. Both player should be expert for the team to succeed. The spinner might be the one that process the spinning. He must have extremely tough leg, pelvic & arm muscles. This is because the thrower will uses his whole body in spinning the top.
The scooper, in the other hand will need another set of skill. He must have really speedy reflexes & be capable to seize the rapidly spinning top so that the top shall stay to spin. This skill is essential as he must not distrup the top When he lift out it to put into the stand.
Once the top is install on top of their particular stand, it might remain to spin and it also must remain perfectly upright.
Fighting contest
In top fighting competition, the
player in each team can be more than the spinning competition. The player in
both team may range from three to five individual. Whilst this competition is
in some way require specific skill & may be unsafe, only adult shall participate
this type of contest.
In this type of contest, there come two team involve. The contest begin with the first team spin their top, and so followed by the 2nd team- which they got to hit one of the first team’s top.
However, in doing this, hitting other than one top is in admissible.
Since striking the top may caused damage to the tops, there is a few regulation to follow. The regulation is that the striker’s top (the second team’s top) must stay to spin when it hit the first top (their opponent’s top). The point can be given to the team that can hit the top if his top continue to spin. This may take turn and the team that can get the most point of the day will be the winner for the first ‘round’. This type of competition can drag up to few days, which I believed will be based on the organizer or based to the local rule.
