Malaysia traditional games

Malaysia is a place which have multiple races and therefore they will have varieties of traditional games. Many of this traditional game will only just require very basic tools while some of them will require high skill to produce the tools for the game.

Motives of traditional games
I observed that in Malaysia, many of these games are for building up cooperation within the community. Many of Malaysian traditional games like wau (kites) is played by group of people in the ‘after harvest’ season. Even though this game can be conduct by one person, it is not nice to play it alone.

One more motives of Malaysia traditional games which I can observes is for entertainment. I think this also the main motives of every games whether it is traditional or modern games. We can see that previously most of the population is a farmer and they will have a ‘free’ time after harvest season. To prevent the community from being boring, most of them will involve in some games.

Traditional games also is a way of expressing their art. For example traditional ‘wau bulan’ from east coast of peninsular Malaysia will have a very beautiful ‘art’ on it, and the owner normally will be very proud of their kites.

One more motives of to exercise. Traditional games like 'sepak raga' will need the player to moved around to serve the rattan ball and normally they will need lots of stamina to do this. This is a very good way to maintain their health during the non productive time.
